“My recent artistic practice has been mostly dedicated to sculpting abstract representation of clouds. I create kinetic sculptures in which I incorporate LEDs. By using reflecting surfaces, I play with light and also with the moving shadows the artwork generates. This tension between light and shadows is a never ending source of inspiration and it pushes me to always explore the possibilities further.”
Claudine is what one would call a classic “Renaissance” artist in the sense that she likes to experiment with many mediums and is always looking to learn new techniques to expand her artistic vocabulary. Juggling between painting, sculptures, and illustrations, each discipline informs her mastery of the others and this cross-pollination of techniques always leaves her with plenty of ideas to explore.
She spent most of her life immersed in Montréal’s rich artistic and cultural diversity. It was there that she studied Fine Arts at the Cégep du Vieux Montréal and Graphic Design at the Université du Québec à Montréal, both institutions known for their eclectic and bohemian artistic tendencies. Claudine’s art is abstract and whimsical, nature being her primary guide. She is deeply influenced by her surroundings and her work is a reflection of impressions that the environment instills upon her.
Originally from Montreal, Claudine now lives and dreams in Vancouver, Canada.
“Always looking for new challenges, I began creating illuminated sculptures a few years ago. Claudine Gévry Studio was born in early 2019 when I partnered with people passionate about using the latest technologies to help me achieve my vision. I am very proud of our very creative upcoming company, born & raised in Vancouver. It was a long dream of mine, designing illuminated jewelry.I am very excited about this new collection, combining my work with light with my love for jewelry. Rechargeable with a USB cable, these new kinds of body adornment are sure to attract attention to your glowing self!”
“I might not have time to comb my hair or to put on makeup but I always wear a piece of jewelry! I see jewelry as affordable art pieces you can wear to transform yourself and bring some flair to your daily life. When making earrings and necklaces, I especially like using material not traditionally seen in jewelry, like steel, aluminium & upcycled materials. Jewelry doesn’t have to be expensive to be fun and ingenuous!”
